I wouldn't be surprised if you could learn mindfulness, if you are
motivated on your own to do the experiential exercises that are
provided for teaching that skill here. But mindfulness is nothing at
all like hypnotism. Hypnotism is a form of conditioning. Mindfulness
is not being *conditioned* in any way. In fact, with mindfulness, one
can learn to become free of conditioning when that is something a
person feels motivated to be working on. Mindfulness is about being
free, and making one's skillful, objective, choices from a posture of
freedom.
