John
It was so good to come into class and see you had dropped in. I’ve
personally missed you, but that’s nothing new…I always miss reading
your post when I come into class after not hearing from you in a
while.
Yes I concur with your ‘work experience’ of involving more than one
center when observing Personality. My understanding is that the
dividing of ones attention in the way you speak is an act
of “Mindfulness” or in The 4th Way terminology can be a level of “Self-
Remembering”. I also agree ‘whole heartedly’ that many of my writings
that I am doing for posting here in class have raised my conscious to
that level as well.
This has also been true in the more ‘objective’ look I gain when
this ‘mindful type’ writing is brought into the ‘observable open’ in
conjunction with the direct feed-back from some-what
likeminded ‘fellow’s’. That “experienced” feed-back combined with my
own ‘word’s’ yet much more than mere word’s (as Scot has so aptly
expressed) can, (again as Scot said) become as a ‘mirror’ for me.
Actually as I am feeling right now through my reflection of what all
you have stated and what all Scot had responded, is that he has hit
almost every note towards most everything that struck a cord in me.
One thing that I will mention from my own experience that may have
some level of parallel to you own here is: I have come to realize that
I ‘can’ with extreme extra effort at times give my input into a life
situation that excludes the expression or even at rare times the
experiential feeling, of negative thoughts and emotions. Yes I mean
right smack-dab in the middle of a life event with other people.
Granted it’s a very conscious position but is possible when I can be
completely objective at the time of the event in the experience of the
encounter. Actually I’m convinced that this learning and growing
to ‘be’ more and more conscious and more authentically what and who
we “essentially” are, is the very purpose of this Work. And
these ‘life’ given events are the very things we are given to be
developing this Work in us.
Now don’t get me wrong here, as always I am millions of times better
at talking about it than I am about ‘doing’ it. But I do ‘so far’ keep
working none the less.
