Hi Betsy(& all):
I have been reading "Miracle of Mindfulness" by TNH and the section on a "day of mindfulness". It sounds like a great idea, but it seems the best I can do at the moment is some "engaged" mindfulness. With kids, work, etc., etc. getting a whole day to myself is a rare thing.
On the bonus side, we are one of the households that still doesn't have a automatic diswasher. I don't know how long that will last, but for the moment washing dishes is one of those times during the day that I can, well, wash the dishes..... I have found that most things that I do by myself are easier times to be mindful.
John, thanks for the kinderbody posting, I am hoping to have enough time this weekend, to sit doown and go through the whole thing. I was thinking as I was reading this that I might read it onto a tape, with appropriate blank spaces for the breaks. It seems to break my focus to have to keep going back to the paper to read the next thing. I figure after doing it a few times it won't matter anyway.
In the book above, there are some sutra translations where they talk about contemplating the body withing the body, contemplating it internally, externally, actually looking at the separation of mind and body.
Take care all, Jeff
