Hi Betsy & all:

I was rereading your orignal post here and a good illustration for me on space comes from skiing. If you look into a forest what usually jumps out at you first, the trees. When I was starting to backcountry ski off the trails and in the trees I was ending up "sitting down"(intentionally) a bit to avoid plowing into trees. A friend suggested that I look at the spaces between the trees and not at the trees. Voila! I was not instantly a better skier, but the tendency of the skis to head for what I'm looking at came to the surface. I still "sit down" sometimes when my awareness lapses, I get too excited, or my skill level is being exceeded, but a whole new aspect to the forest was opened up to me.

The spaces were always there, I simply never "saw" them.

Take care, Jeff
