Hi, Folks! Out of deference to Doug's and Perk's general suggestions in
this area, I'm gonna try something different for awhile, and see if I
can give shorter responses, set apart in different threads. Let's see
how that works for awhile.

Speaking of my "definite sense" of starting a new life in 2000 {wide
grin}, Jeff shows why he's been recruited as our wise resident
Blackboard Eraser. Right on, Jeff. Absolutely correct. That attitude
of mine shows up my naive Believer. It is "magical thinking," meaning
thinking that really isn't magic at all—an example of *superstition*.
What, in the real world of a mindful warrior, is so special about 2000?
. . . . . . . . . . In the real world of a warrior, it's always *now*!
In the real world of a mindfulness practioner, he or she keeps bringing
their focus back to *now*.

"Why wait?" indeed!!! It's already happening!!! In fact, I *am*
already going on in new ways already—cleaning up my big house, which has
piles of boxes, books, papers, manuscripts, manila envelopes *nearly
everywhere*, the odd "skeleton" of the Teaching Tools for Mindfulness
Training website, spread out over the floors. . . . . all over the
house! But it's all going into boxes now! Hooray!!! It's already
underway. Spring cleaning started two weeks ago—the kitchen, the
bathroom, the closet . . . ?—for the first time in months, I've become
"a ball of fire." Heh-heh. I'm gonna redesign my whole environment
around here for "living in" again! Seems {koff-koff} "the old
awareness prof" forget about that, during the last two hectic years of
putting this school on-line here. Heh-heh. Your "beautiful campus" has
looked more and more like "a wasteland" in the *real world* here where
I'm sitting.

And your "scrubbing the board," Jeff, and putting up "Why wait?"
instead, really reflects the whole purpose of this course. It is *now*.
It is always *now*. Right *now* is the time to awaken. The time for us
to be dealing with our lives and really living our lives is . . .
already going by . . . right now!

It's got to be a great class where the teacher goes on being reminded
and learning in it, too! {wide grin}. Well . . . on to another thread.
I really liked that posting you did, Michael, on "A student's
responsibility." Let's go there.
