An aside~
Douglas you know how I feel for your pain in regard to your mother, all
I can do is pray for you both.
As an aside....My two oldest boys and i just returned from a memorial
to two of their high school friends. Seems on Thursday, speed,
inexperience and "life" conspired to take out two 16 year old girls
lifes. They were neighborhood girls, we are beside ourself/ Three more
teens are fighting for their lifes, lifes only 16 years long, all for a
momentary lapse of "judgement" on the part of Ashley, whose life
support was turned off last night....a tragedy. We just returned from
placing flowers on the light pole that sheared the Thunderbird in
two....and left one girl dead at the point of impact. I was personlly
astonded at the "light pole" , no dents, no sign of any trauma, except
for the fact, that it did "take the light bulbs out"...no light...a
dark stretch of highway that had recently been the sceen of horror for
5 high school girls. Their lifes, the remaining 3, will never be the
same. I feel for you Douglas, but death comes to all of us, and 16
seems way to young to me, to be cosmically accountable for acts that we
have all been given the "leninency" of time to perfect. A momentary
lapse,,,,so see, that is all we are given, is each "moment" ...may you
make your Moms last moments here loving and the best they can be. 83 is
a long life and I am mouring these neighborhood girls, who never got to
be married, have kids, live, and all this is lost to them forever.
Please know that my heart goes out to you, but I know that you are
strong, and if you saw the carnage of this accident, you would know
that life is life, and at least know that your Mom has had the pleasure
of 83 years....16,,,,,that is a baby. i am still so upset, as one of
the girls is on life support, but a renowned neurosurgeon is thinking
of coming to "sin city" to try and save this teen,,,,I hope he does, as
the driver was unlicensed so there will be no insurance payments, and
this other girl is hanging on by a thread. He hopefully will be able to
come here and perform a miracle, as her parents have not left the
hospital since Thursday,,,,,they have hope. I know there is a chance
for her if the right "things" come together. I am hoping you will also
find time to write that play as it might be good for you. You are so
talented, and I agree with John,,,the best in you is yet to come.
Love, Sal ;-)
