Hi Rob,

You wrote,

“In a way, leadership is addressing everyone's personality in a way
that keeps the web of reactions from rising up and taking over the
work.”

I would add to your statement this way,

“Leadership is the art of allowing a group of people to contribute to
the work from their Essence rather than their Personality.”

This is what I think you did with your authentic communication with
your co-worker. Not an easy task, as your posts have indicated. It
has been my experience that often the one who provides leadership in
keeping Personalities at bay and Essences engaged many not be
the “nominal leader” but a group member who facilitates the work by
his leadership. It is best if the nominal leader and the one
providing leadership, as we are speaking of it, is one in the same.
But alas, not all rise to positions of power from Essence nor can lead
authentically as you have done.

Best regards, Student John
