hey you all:

i don't know this film, but i'm going to get a copy and watch it. i'd
love to see it through the lens that the coach is using. and of course,
since i grew up right across the rio grande from juarez, i'm interested
in how he's being profiled. i recently saw a movie in the theater
called Half Nelson. much to recommend this film, but there is a least
one moment of complete recognition between the two main characters --
when they both really SEE each other and the situation that they are
both in at the same time and they both acknowledge the other, without
judgement. it is that moment of recognition that empowers each
character to make a choice. their choices are different but they each
choose nonetheless. as coach has alwasy said, it is only in self
remembering that we are really free to choose.
